“Cries From The Cold is a riveting story that kept me glued to the pages. It’s full of mystery, adventure, and engaging characters. I loved Calista Gates. Despite her difficulties and the setbacks she’s experienced, she’s still a fighter. I felt like I was able to look over her shoulder throughout the investigation. And, getting to see the points of view of some of the other main characters gave this story a lot of depth which helped me feel like I was a part of all the scenes. I’m hoping there will be more in this series to come because I can’t wait to find out more about Calista’s somewhat mysterious past and that of her ex-husband back in Vancouver as well. All in all, this was a fun and satisfying read.”

What inspired you to write this story? Was there anything in particular that made you want to write this?
“I’m always inspired by locations: wild, isolated, mysterious places. In this case it is the rugged, wind-swept coast of Labrador which I know from my travels. I thought it would be interesting to send a big-city detective to this God-forsaken town in the middle of a bone-chilling winter. I can relate to the challenges she faces because of my own experiences in Canada’s North.”

“Are you a fan of Nordic noir/crime fiction? If the answer is yes, then you will love @bernadettecalonegoauthor . Bernadette was born and raised in Switzerland but now resides and works in Canada, total win for us by the way 😉. Her mysteries are atmospheric and detailed with engaging and well developed characters and a great plot, not to mention those classic Scandinavian vibes in a Canadian setting. If you are a fan of Will Dean and Ragnar Jónasson then you will definitely enjoy her books.
