Going back

Do you sometimes go back to places where you used to live but from which you moved away? For me it is easy and nice to do because I moved to the neighbouring village. It only takes me a 15-minute car ride to visit my old place.

The village store where I did my shopping.

I feel fortunate that I was able to live there for so many years. A lot of important things happened in these years and for me, the village is full of memories. When I look at the places, towns and cities where I lived I realize that they all are picturesque. And all had and still have a great quality of life.

The beach where I still go for walks from time to time.

When I moved to the Sunshine Coast in British Columbia twenty years ago, I didn`t know a soul here. This changed when I became member of a local hiking group. I not only got to know the most beautiful corners of this area but also a lot of nice people.

The village library that provided me with many interesting books.

I loved the fact that bears walked through my yard and eagles sat in the trees. It was my Canadian dream come true. But we change and our goals and needs change. Life is a work in progress. I had to move because my house was sold. But I still can enjoy the beauty of this place when I am visiting. It is still there for me.

So many good memories can be found in places you have moved from but never left behind.
