The Joys of Winter

Okay, winter is here in Northern Newfound and I just love it – so far. I am no stranger to snow and cold because I was raised in Switzerland. I can handle the white stuff as long as I can go on walks outside. The secret to the cold season is to find nice things to do. Like Coco, my neighbour’s dog that comes with me on my walks. She loves digging for mice under the snow.

We had some beautiful sunny days when the snowy landscape turned into winter wonderland. Some nights, I play cards with people in the village. Or I bake bread. And, of course, I read a lot of books.

There is no question which bread I prefer!

I have also taken up snowshoeing again. An acquaintance lent me some poles so that I can get up again when I fall.

The feedbacks from my beta readers for my next German novel have come in and they are very encouraging. It warms my heart when they mention sections or descriptions that moved them. And sometimes they discover captivating details that I wasn’t even aware of. Sometimes their opinions differ from each other but that’s the nature of the game.

The cover of my next English-language thriller “Cries from the Cold” (possible publication date is the beginning of May, maybe earlier) is almost ready. If you sign up for the newsletter on the home page, you will be among the first readers to see it!
