Discovering the unknown

A few days ago, I came back from a trip to Southern Labrador, a coast which I love. I`m doing research for a German publisher for a non-fiction book about the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. I took the ferry in St. Barbe on the island of Newfoundland, crossed over to Blanc Sablon and continued my drive on the Trans-Labrador Highway. The owner of the Florian Hotel in the village of Forteau, Shane Dumaresque, arranged a boat trip for me to see icebergs, whales and puffins. What can one ask for more?!

This is exactly how the iceberg looked – no camera filter!

I walked on the Pioneer Footpath along the coast of Southern Labrador and tasted a delicious four-course Basque supper created by the chef de cuisine Angela Gilley (the Basque whalers sailed to this area about 500 years ago). I felt totally pampered.

The trip was supported by Newfoundland and Labrador Tourism and Destination Labrador.

More to come!
